A Lesson From Bill Gates

If you want to live an uncommon life of wealth, it may be considered best to look to those people who have lived uncommonly. After all, if success were an easy thing, then everyone would do it, and that would carry its own connotations about how things work. And in particular, when looking for a goal, a fine way to figure out the best way to pursue it is to find out about those who have gotten there before you. Finding how they did it, and then mimicking their actions and their attitudes as exactly as you can.

Let us consider the case of Bill Gates, for instance. He is a man of considerable wealth, even today in the wake of his charities. He is a man of uncommon success, something that we could all agree with. Furthermore, he has achieved this success to such a degree that it’s unbelievable in this day and age.

What few people realize is that he didn’t start out on the road to his success in the usual way. Most people assume it’s just an education and then you go on to some place where people like you and pay more for your services. It wasn’t like that with Gates; even though he made it into Harvard, he dropped out of school and for a time he worked out of his parent’s garage.

He was a smart kid. And he knew a lot about computers; they were his passion, something that excited him more than anything else.

So what are we saying? That you don’t need our services? That you don’t need an education? Hardly. What we are saying is simply that to get somewhere uncommon, you need to do something uncommon. And we can be that uncommon thing that helps you get to where you want to go.
